19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.
Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's initial championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after March of 2023.
Success also means he has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.
His defensive approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.
Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
